The rubber roller itself is a rubber product made by vulcanizing the coated rubber layer on the iron core. Its materials include natural rubber, nitrile rubber, silicone rubber, polyurethane and so on. The surface adhesive layer of rubber rollers commonly used in offset printing is generally nitrile rubber, and polyurethane rubber is used for medium and high-grade rubber. The rubber roller is also one of the main components of the offset printing machine’s inking system. It must be in constant contact with water, ink, paper, etc., so it should absorb water to the minimum. Compared with metal rollers, rubber rollers have the characteristics of elasticity, acid and alkali resistance, no rust, etc., have good ink absorption and ink transfer, and are easy to clean, so they are widely used.

However, to a large extent, more emphasis is placed on the life of the rubber roller. In this respect, it needs effective maintenance.

First: During transportation and handling, avoid collision with sharp and hard objects, do not press hard, and do not cause strong friction between foreign objects and rubber rollers.
Second: When entering the warehouse, each rubber roller should be inspected, such as whether there are pits on the surface, whether there are deviations in roundness and diameter, and deformation.
Third: The storage period of rubber rollers should not be too long, and the maximum length should not exceed 6 months. The date should be marked on the outer packaging of the stocked rubber rollers so as to carry out quality tracking and “push the old and store the new” when leaving the warehouse.
Fourth: Establish a reasonable inventory. There can be neither no stock or too little stock, nor too much stock. It is very necessary to maintain a certain stock of rubber rollers. Because the newly cast rubber roller should not be put into use immediately. At this time, the internal structure of the rubber roller is not stable enough, if it is put into use immediately, it will easily reduce its service life. The new rubber roller should be placed for a period of time to adapt to the external temperature and humidity and maintain a relatively stable state, which can increase the toughness of the colloid and improve its durability. Excessive and long-term inventory is not only a waste of funds, but also natural aging, wrinkles, and shaft head corrosion due to long-term storage, resulting in unnecessary inventory damage. According to the actual production situation and the type of rubber rollers (such as the replacement of the plate rubber rollers more and frequently, while the ink distribution roller and the ink transfer roller are replaced relatively less), a reasonable inventory of various rubber rollers should be established.
Fifth: The storage environment of the rubber roller is the same as that of the blanket. Choose a cool, dry and ventilated place, keep the temperature at 20-25℃, and keep the relative humidity at 60%~70%. Avoid direct sunlight, ***** *It is a backlit or dark room in a warehouse. Keep away from high temperature, heat and radioactive sources, and avoid storing it with acids, alkalis, oils, and sharp substances. In addition, the rubber roller should be vertically or horizontally racked. Use a special rack to place it horizontally. The rubber head should be placed on the rack to support the shoulders on both sides and keep the rubber roller parallel to the ground. Glue is strictly prohibited. Stack each other, squeeze, or contact with other objects to prevent the plastic surface from deforming and sticking under pressure. At the same time, do not remove the wrapping paper before use.
Sixth: Rubber rollers should not be stored near large motors and generators. Because the large amount of ozone produced by these equipment will cause the surface of the rubber roller to age and crack.
Seventh: The rubber roller stored for a long time should be ground or rubbed with talcum powder to test the surface of the rubber roller before use.
Eighth: After the old rubber rollers that are not in use should be cleaned, wrap the colloid with plastic film and place it on the rubber roller rack. Do not stack a few pieces together or stand upright against the wall, so as to prevent the colloid from being affected. Shouldn’t damage the quotient.
Ninth: During the transportation process of the used rubber rollers for processing and casting, avoid throwing them away, putting them in disorder, pressing or pressing them indiscriminately, so as to keep the roller core from deviating or bending, and to ensure that the roller core can be used normally.
