Reasons for gaps in the product after IML label injection molding

IML (In-Mold Labeling) injection molding is used to create high-quality, aesthetically pleasing plastic products. However, IML labels can develop gaps at the seams after injection molding. This is mainly caused by improper label placement in the mold cavity, improper mold design, or broken molds.

1) The size of the cut size is inappropriate, and the correct cut size is not made according to the sample, resulting in gaps.

2) There is an error between the labeling position and the designed position. The label is not correctly labeled according to the designed position, and the labeling position is higher or lower than the designed position.

3) Shrinkage ratio. Injection molding machines have different shrinkage ratios and require multiple proofing tests.

4) Improper label placement in the mold cavity. This can cause the label to lift or shift during the molding process, resulting in gaps. The solution is to ensure that the label is accurately and safely placed in the mold cavity before the injection molding process begins.

5) Improper mold design or mold wear. If the mold is not designed perfectly at the beginning, it may also cause the label to move after injection molding. The mold may wear or damage over time, resulting in defects in the final product. To prevent this, it is important to regularly inspect and maintain the mold and invest in high-quality mold design in the first place.
